Welcome to the new Sugar Hills Bakery blog! Whether you’ve been coming to us for years or are just visiting our website for the first time, welcome! If your mouth is watering from looking at our cakes and pasties, you can thank our founders Jacob Neminarz and Anna Majewski. It was their passion for high quality baking that brought Sugar Hills Bakery to Chicago.

Perseverance, a strong sense of entrepreneurship and the belief that you have to give back to be successful, are the principles on which Jacob and Anna built Sugar Hills Bakery, one of the fastest growing bakeries in Chicagoland.


Growing up in a business-minded family in Poland, Jacob learned determination and hard work from his mother who was a nurse and owned her own clothing business. Jacob moved to the United States at age 21 and worked as a project manager at a masonry restoration company in Chicago where he learned first-hand how to run a business.


A self-taught baker, Anna Majewski has been working in bakeries since she was 19. Anna’s natural skill for baking has been the cornerstone for Sugar Hills Bakery’s success in the Chicagoland area. Even in her current role as president, she has a hand in creating, testing and most importantly, tasting every product Sugar Hills Bakery makes.

Jacob and Anna opened the first Sugar Hills Bakery with three employees in Algonquin in 2007. In 2010, they opened their second location in Wheeling, and the third Chicago location opened in March. Between the three locations, we now have 40 employees.


With the success of the growing bakery, they realized that giving back and sharing sweet treats are important. The organizations Sugar Hills Bakery is involved with include the Chicago Children’s Choir, The Israel Idonije Foundation, Care2Prevent at the University of the Chicago, Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, The Service Club of Chicago and River North Dance Chicago.
